“You just lost the greatest footballer in history,” Piers Morgan slams Manchester United for terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract

Piers Morgan replies to fans slamming him for Cristiano-United situation

Piers Morgan might not have initiated the story of Cristiano Ronaldo’s painful departure from Manchester United, but he has undoubtedly contributed to its conclusion. In a sensational interview published in two parts the week before, the controversial journalist took immense delight in offering Ronaldo a forum to broadcast his thoughts on his club and career.

Manchester United has officially cut all ties with Ronaldo following the intense confessions, ending his agreement by common agreement. It is inevitably what Ronaldo and United desired as the blinds drop on the five-time Ballon D’Or winner’s second, and possibly ultimate, tenure at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo and Ten Hag have a tense rapport. Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United have collectively acknowledged ending his contract. Morgan didn’t waste any time weighing in on the news, taking through Twitter minutes after United issued its statement. A United fan tweeted at Morgan, saying: ‘@piersmorgan Thank you Piers for making Ten Hag look like even more of a boss. You’ve saved United millions and helped us get back to where we belong.’

Piers quickly replied: ‘You’re 5th in the League, 11pts behind Arsenal, facing elimination to Barcelona in the Europa play-offs, and you just lost the greatest footballer in history who scored 24 goals for you last season, because your ‘boss’ manager disrespected him. Congrats.. and good luck!’.

Piers Morgan targeted for the explosive interview of Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo consulted Morgan to set up the interview after growing impatient with his circumstances at United, according to Morgan. Ronaldo, amidst wrapping up last season as United’s leading scorer, has been the subject of controversy this season under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo was interviewed by Morgan, in which he slammed Manchester United for betraying him while explaining that he did not respect manager Erik ten Hag. Morgan has faced criticism for his involvement in the saga, having earlier interviewed Ronaldo for his ITV ‘Life Stories’ sequence and evolving a close friendship with the megastar.

Morgan defended himself by saying per Mirror UK: “I did challenge him. I got him to admit he shouldn’t have done what he did at Tottenham. I got him to make other admissions, too… He was setting the record straight about stuff he felt was misleading and untrue in the media.”
