Anthony Martial was signed by Manchester United in the summer of 2015. The Frenchman became the world’s most expensive teenager at that time when he was signed from AS Monaco for $65 million. He was a youngster at the time and not many expected him to have a sudden impact in the team.

Not many fans knew about Anthony Martial prior to his signing so the expectations were already low for him. However, he scored a wonder goal against Liverpool on his debut and since then, the France international has become a fan favourite.

He had a good start to his life at Manchester United but things have started to deteriorate since last season. Martial’s best season at the club came in the 2019/20 season when the 24 year old scored 17 goals in the premier League for the club and was a key member of the squad.

However, he has been out of form since last season and now with the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, Martial has fallen down the pecking order with the likes of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Elanga and Edinson Cavani preferred ahead of him.

Anthony Martial has had a good time at Manchester United. The Frenchman has scored 79 goals in 268 appearances for the Red Devils which is quite an impressive stat considering he is so young. The 26 year old was touted as the best youngster in the world during his early days at the club too when he was scoring goals for fun.

Anthony Martial has become a fringe player at the club since the arrival of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. The France international has started only 2 games for the Red devils in the Premier League and has scored just once in the League.

Due to lack of game time and not getting any minutes, the 26 year old informed Manchester United‘s interim manager Ralf Rangnick of his decision to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window. It was nothing that the fans expected they would see but it is clearly understandable why the France international would want to leave.

When asked about Martial’s situation, Ralf Rangnick said,” We spoke at length on Wednesday. He explained to me he has been at Manchester United for 7 years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.”

The Interim manager also added,” I think in a way this is understandable, I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, is is also important to see the situation of the club. We have Covid times, we have 3 competitions in which we still have high ambitions and want to be as successful as we can be.”

Rangnick also confirmed that there has been no concrete interest in Anthony Martial ahead of the upcoming window and he could stay at the club too.

The German manager said,” I told him listen, as long as there is no club showing interest in him, and it should not only be in the interest of the player but also in the interest of the club. So as far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and as long as this is the case, he will stay.”

Clubs like Sevilla and Juventus are interested in bringing the 26 year old for a loan until the end of the season but it is reported that Martial will prefer to play at Sevilla as he will get more game time.
