Currently Manchester United are reeling at seventh position in the Premier League table. They recently lost 1-0 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers courtesy of a Joao Moutinho goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo says Manchester United must finish in top three

Although Ronaldo has tried to motivate his teammates, it’s very unlikely that Manchester United will be getting a podium finish. This is because, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea already solidifying their place and don’t look like slipping up.

Ronaldo displayed his elite mentality as he says that Manchester United should be competing for the Premier League title and should not be finishing at sixth or seventh position. In his heart that is not where United belong.

Manchester United should win the league or be second or third. I don’t see any other position for Manchester United,” Ronaldo said. “In my heart, I don’t accept that our mentality be less than being in the top three in the Premier League, in my opinion.

I think to build up good things sometimes you have to destroy a few things. New year, new life, I hope that Manchester can be at the level people want, especially the fans. We are capable of changing things now.

Ronaldo urges his team on for a gruelling season

We can do it better, all of us. I don’t want to be here in the club to fight to be in sixth or seventh place. I am here to try to win, to compete. I believe if we change our mind we can achieve big things.”

Additionally, Cristiano Ronaldo has also said that the team needs to trust Ralf Rangnick. He said that the process will take time to implement and that they all must back the manager.

It takes time but I believe that he is going to do a good job. We know we don’t play the best football, as we should do, but we have many games to improve. Since he arrived I think in some points we are better, but he needs time.”
