“I have a place for him here”- Wolves manager Bruno Lage jokes about bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo

Bruno Lage and Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo re-joined Manchester United this summer from Juventus after a deal with Manchester City collapsed in the final days. The Portuguese’s return to Old Trafford was the headline transfer as the whole world wanted it to happen and it reminded the Red Devils fans of the glory days.
However, things have not gone to plan for Manchester United this season as they are already out of the Premier League title race and have also sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and replaced him with interim head coach Ralf Rangnick.
Ronaldo, on the other hand, has been outstanding for the Red Devils and is their leading goal-scorer with 14 goals already to his name. The 36 year old has been performing brilliantly week in-week out and has been one of the few sparkling lights for Manchester United this season.
The Portuguese has single-handedly helped Manchester United to qualify for the UEFA Champions League last 16 by scoring in every Group Stage game that he played. However, his teammates have not been performing brilliantly to make it easier for him.
Manchester United currently sit outside the top 4 in the Premier League but still have 2 games in hand due to the COVID outbreak in the squad. Their next game is against Wolves on Monday night.
Wolves manager Bruno Lage on Cristiano Ronaldo:

Wolves manager Bruno Lage has offered Cristiano Ronaldo a place in his squad in his recent press conference before the match against Manchester United. Lage offered a place to the 36 year old due to rumoured reports that Ronaldo was unhappy at Manchester United and was looking for an escape route in the upcoming January transfer window.
Lage joked in his press conference about bringing in Ronaldo ahead of his side’s clash against the Red Devils and said,” If they are not happy with him, I have a place for him here. But I know they are happy with him. When you look for a player the most important thing to see is what he can give to your team.”
Lage also added,” When you have a player like him who can score goals, it is hard to believe that he is 36 years old. He has been at this level since he was very young. He is a machine, he wants to score goals all the time. He is a massive player, I think any team in the world would want a player like him.”
