Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir picks captain Kohli’s best knock
Gambhir Virat
Captain Kohli, what can we say about him? The name is a brand itself!
In his 12 years long career we have seen Virat Kohli rising up to be among best cricketer of the world.
He has broken countless records and shown his immense strength en route becoming the second-highest ODI runs-scorer of all time for INDIA.
Picking one best performance of the star is really a tough call to make.
Even his former teammate Gautam Gambhir got confused what impressive knock of a player with over 20000 international runs and 50+ centuries to pick.
”Think of Kohli’s best ODI knocks and what come to mind? The 52-ball century (fastest hundred by an Indian) against Australia in Jaipur in 2013, the 107 against Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup, his knock of 160 not out in South Africa in 2018, the sublime 138 in the sapping heat of Chennai in 2015, or the Hobart epic that saw India chase down 331 in just 40 overs… the list is endless” says Gambhir.
Virat Kohli’s best performance according to Gautam Gambhir
India were reduced to 0/1, losing Gambhir to Hafeez second ball of the innings, when Pakistan had put up 329 on the board [courtesy centuries from Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed].
And that was the time when current captain Kohli added 133 for the second wicket, putting the chase back on the track along with Sachin Tendulkar.
Kohli added another 172 runs with Rohit Sharma for the third wicket, after Sachin was dismissed for 52 in his final ODI for India.
Following this just before Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni guided India home with more than two overs remaining, Rohit and Kohli fell in quick succession.
