Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen battling it out at the Bahrain GP

Lights out and Here we go. The words reverberated around the world after a gap of more than 3 months as the new season of F1 got underway. The eyes were set on the current world champion, Max Verstappen as he took center stage after clinching his maiden title in Abu Dhabi. The speculation has been that it’s Max Verstappen’s title to lose. But, sadly, the world champion hasn’t had the best of starts in this season.

The team which has been off to to flyer is Ferrari. This was a flawless weekend for the Italian giants which started with Charles Leclerc securing pole on Saturday and ended with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finishing P1 and P2 on the grid. You can’t ask for anything better than this. But this was also a statement win for Ferrari because Charles Leclerc got into a tussle with Max Verstappen and came out trumps.

We haven’t got the chance to say that often. Max Verstappen on that RB-18 has been one of the fastest cars on the grid but it didn’t seem so during the first Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen have been locking horns ever since their karting days and know each other inside out. It was visibly evident that Charles was faster on the slow corners but slower on the straight.

But Max Verstappen couldn’t get close enough to get the rear wing open and overtake the Ferrari. This should be an eye opener for Red Bull. Ferrari means business this year around and this win is the perfect start to the season. Charles Leclerc was obviously elated with the result.

He said, ” “It was tricky but it was nice. It was on the limits, hard racing, but we always gave each other space, which was nice. It was always very close.”

“I would always try to brake very early into Turn 1 to get the DRS for Turn 4, and it worked out, three times in a row, so then I could keep my lead!”

“I was struggling quite a lot with my energy and how to manage that, too, but then, after the third lap, I think I was in a better window with it and could push again and manage the race.” As reported by skysports.

Max Verstappen obviously had the problems with the new challenger as he was unable to get to control the steering on the fast corners and eventually had to retire because of a fuel pump issue. On the other hand, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc couldn’t have asked for more. FERRARI IS BACK IN THE GAME AND HOW!
