Christian Horner has made it clear to Max Verstappen to continue being aggressive on the track. This has helped Max Verstappen to win his maiden championship last year but this has also attracted criticism for the current F1 champion as his aggressive racing tactics have forced opponents off the track especially in wheel to wheel battles.

Christian Horner still hasn’t asked Max Verstappen to tone it down because he feels that Max Verstappen is inherently an aggressive driver and if we were to take that away from him, we won’t be able to get the best out of the champion. The Red Bull Team Principal further added that that he definitely has to learn with his mistakes but that conversation takes place between them behind closed doors.

Christian Horner said, “There are other drivers that make aggressive actions as well, you know. But, yeah, Max is an aggressive driver. That’s his DNA; that’s who he is. Yes, he will always be close to the limit and he will only learn from his experiences. I’ve got no doubt about that.”

The performances and driving style is definitely in consonance with the plan of Christian Horner and Red Bull as Max Verstappen was handed a ‘bumper’ contract after he stoked an almost flawless season. Max Verstappen brought an end to the dominance that Mercedes had over the driver’s championship and instilled this belief in other teams that this can be done. Red Bull made this ‘straightforward’ decision of handing him a mega contract.

On this issue, Christian Horner said, “Negotiations were straightforward and that the deal shows real intent from both sides.”

“It shows the confidence he has in us. Seeing the commitment and the investment of the group and the activities going within the group, I think that it made an awful lot of sense. There’s pressure on us to deliver. But that’s normal in this business.” As reported by BBC.

Red Bull and Max Verstappen have laid down the perfect foundation in the last season to go all out against Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton and replicate the performance of last season consistently.
