Christian Horner summoned to stewards for Sporting Code Breach
Christian Horner
Although the Christian Horner led Red Bull did not register a win against their name in the first ever Qatar Grand Prix, yet they managed to close the gap against arch rivals Merceds to only 5 points after Valtteri Bottas had to be ruled out late in the race. With Sergio Perez also securing P5, Verstappen’s P2 managed to sum up a decent performance for the Austrian team.
Having said that, after witnessing ace driver Max Verstappen recover to P2 behind runaway winner Lewis Hamilton, Christian Horner was promptly called to the stewards for two potential breaches.
Why was Christian Horner summoned?
The summons read: ‘The Team Principal, Christian Horner, is required to report to the Stewards at 19:15 local time, in relation to the incident below:
‘Alleged breach of Article 12.2.1 f) and 12.2.1 k) of the FIA International Sporting Code.’
Article 12.2.1 F states: ‘Any words, deeds or writings that have caused moral injury or loss to the FIA, its bodies, its members or its executive officers, and more generally on the interest of motor sport and on the values defended by the FIA.’
Article 12.2.1 K states: ‘Any misconduct towards: licence-holders, officials, officers or member of the staff of the FIA, members of the staff of the Organiser or promoter, • members of the staff of the Competitors, doping control officials or any other person involved in a doping control carried out in accordance with Appendix A.’
After meeting with the stewards, a rather sheepish Horner returned in front of the Sky F1 cameras and apologised for pre-race comments.
