Did Mercedes win the Lewis Hamilton – FIA battle? Micheal Masi misses out on the 2022 Organisation chart
Micheal and Lewis
Ever since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Lewis and Mercedes have made just one request to the FIA and that is to come up with a solution regarding the happenings of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of the 2021 Formula1 season. It seems Mercedes have got what they were looking for.
The FIA has recently released their organization structure chart and a specific name is missing from it. It has been stated in Essentiallysports that Micheal Masi who was once listed as secretary of single-seaters is now excluded from the list. Now the new chart only features Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s and Peter Bayers’s names on it.
Micheal Masi has not been shifted to another role and his name has been completely wiped off the list following the unprecedented decisions that Masi took during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. To show their resentment against Micheal Masi’s decisions, Mercedes had filed two complaints which they decided to withdraw before the Gala Ceremony of FIA.
What was Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton looking for from the FIA?
In the eyes of the Mercedes team, the incidents of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix were not right and in order to make sure such incidents don’t take place again, they vouched for the making of rules which are set in stone and are not flexible as per the wishes of people. It has been revealed that Mercedes was looking for the sacking of Micheal Masi as race director.
The incidents of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix took a heavy toll on Lewis Hamilton which made him mute regarding the matter, and as a result, the rumors of him retiring started to circulate. It is believed that Lewis will take a decision regarding his future after hearing the FIA’s plan of action.
Mercedes want to avoid Lewis leaving the sport and it has been reported that Mercedes is waiting for the FIA to hold up their part of the deal. It was decided that Mercedes would drop their investigation if Micheal Masi and Nickolas Tombazis were relieved of their duties, which according to the chart seems to be the case.
Mercedes, however, has denied having such discussions and have claimed that they agreed to drop the allegations if FIA takes the necessary action. Is this what Mercedes wanted or has FIA made an independent decision? All would be made clear when the FIA or Lewis Hamilton comes out in public.
