“He’s a World Champion in the making,” Zak Brown draws a parallel between Lewis Hamilton and potential future Formula 1 champion Lando Norris

Lando Norris with Zak Brown
Lando Norris is not the new kid on the block anymore. He spearheads the McLaren attack from the front even after the induction of Daniel Ricciardo’s entry into the team. The new multi million dollar contract extension is a clear indication of how much the British manufactures value the their prodigy. It’s a long term project with the Briton being the poster boy of Mclaren.
Lando Norris has obviously shown glimpses of magic on the track but hasn’t been able to do it consistently enough for our liking. The Briton already has 5 podiums and a start from pole in his 60 starts for McLaren. This is no mean feat for a 22 year old because a lot of talented drivers fail to register a podium throughout the course of their career. But with the enormous talent that he has shown, he’ll have to deal with that extra layer of expectation.
The bar of expectations has definitely been raised by Max Verstappen who became the champion of the world at the tender age of 24. So, if Lando Norris wants to compete with the best, he has to take some giant strides. Nobody questions the talent he has but talent isn’t enough to win a Formula 1 championship. A driver needs to show grit and character in times of adversity.
Lando Norris has the skillset to be a future world champion provided he keeps driving that car with the same passion

One thing that plays in Lando’s favor is the fact that he has the full support of Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren. He has heaped praises on Lando Norris for his impressive start to the season and even drawn parallels with Lewis Hamilton.
Zak Brown in one of his interviews said, “I always thought he’s a World Champion in the making.”
“He’s as fast as anyone and he rarely makes mistakes. He doesn’t make big mistakes.”
“Take Lewis, he is extremely smart. Look at how Lewis raced in Saudi. That was such a highly intelligent drive, forget about the speed.”
“He just seems to drive with a plan and a mission. Lando does the same thing. I’ve never seen Lando emotional in a race car.” As reported by planetf1.
Lando Norris has a promising future lying in front if he sticks to the basics and is ready to grind it out when the chips are down. But he also need to understand that there have been many talented drivers who have faded away into darkness. So, he needs to keep his head down and keep working if he wants to reach the pinnacle of the sport and more importantly stay there.
