“I don’t think it’s an end of an era,” Helmut Marko and Red Bull convinced of Mercedes’ ability to recover from its difficult start to the new F1 season

“I don’t think it’s an end of an era,” Helmut Marko and Red Bull convinced of Mercedes’ ability to recover from its difficult start to the new F1 season

Helmut Marko and Lewis Hamilton

Mercedes and especially Lewis Hamilton have been under the cosh after a rough start to their campaign with the team looking not even a portion of what it was in the last season. Red Bull and Ferrari have looked head and should above them. This is a precarious situation for Mercedes as it has been used to sitting at the top of the grid and not fighting for P5 or P6. We also saw the unexpected happen with Lewis Hamilton failing to make it to Q2 in Saudi Arabian GP qualifying.

It was one of the worst days for Lewis Hamilton as he failed to make it out of Q1. This is something that Mercedes is not used to. The seven time was heard saying on the team radio, “Can’t seem to improve man,” just before the end of Q1. Things seem to be going downhill for a team that has only enjoyed success in the last decade.

This is George Russell’s first full season for the team and he would have wanted to make a name for himself but the car has been so off the pace that he can’t do much more than what hechas been able to do. The problems are mounting up for Mercedes as the team struggles to deal with “porpoising.” The car was almost a second slower than Max Verstappen’s Red bull on the straights.

With both drivers struggling, Mercedes needs to find the answers before it gets out of hand and Red Bull is convinced that it will be able to do so. Helmut Marko said, “I’m fully convinced they’ll be back if they get the bouncing under control. And Lewis Hamilton is nine points behind [Max] Verstappen, so that’s nothing either.

“I don’t think it’s an end [of an era], but maybe it’s a fight on the same level.” As quoted by motorsport.

Helmut Marko is pretty sure about the fact that a team like Mercedes will not fade and will make a comeback sooner rather than later. We also wish to see Mercedes fighting at the front of the grid.
