The argument upon the G.O.A.T of basketball can be settled after the 2021 Formula 1 season, if Lewis Hamilton manages to secure his record-breaking 8th world championship. Having won the last 3 grand prix in resounding manner, stakes and tension are high entering the last race in Abu Dhabi as there are no winners guaranteed. 

Yas Marina, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix track is known to cause havoc because of its shar kerbs and with Hamilton vs Verstappen being ever so close, one can only imagine the catastrophe to unravel on Sunday. But ahead of the finale, the 36-years-old veteran was asked upon his mindset and thoughts.

“It wasn’t unimaginable but I think it was seen as impossible,” Lewis Hamilton, level on points with Verstappen after winning the last three races, told F1TV when he clinched his seventh title in 2020. “However, I still dreamt of it, I dream of going to space… I believe in things and I think when you dream, we all come up with these crazy ideas.”

“This year I’ve not been drawing on past experiences, I’ve been drawing on feeding off this energy of doing this positive work,” he said. “Is it helping me race? I think so, yeah. It’s like my new drive and I feel like it’s giving me more longevity because it’s a lot of work we have to do. I feel like it also gives my life real purpose.” 

“It’s definitely an incredibly intense year and time,” said Hamilton. “I’ve raced for 28 years, I’ve had so many intense battles through karting, through single-seaters, and this is one of them.”
