‘I’ve suffered mentally,’ Toto Wolff laid bare the immense stress suffered as Mercedes’ Team Principal triggering him into consulting a ‘psychiatrist’
Mercedes' Team Principal Toto Wolff
Toto Wolff has been an old warhorse of Formula 1 off the track. Those set of eyes seen it all. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. But all that glitters is not gold. There’s so much that goes behind the lens. All the success that has come along for Mercedes has come at a cost for Toto Wolff. The cost has been his mental peace which has been taken away by the expectations he has to deal with managing one of the pioneers of Formula 1.
Mercedes has been at the summit of the sport for the longest time. The harder part is not to win a championship, but to do that day in and day out. Mercedes has been able to do that with Toto Wolff at the helm of it, answering the critics and taking it on the chin with the media giving him the stick whenever Mercedes has looked off color.
Toto Wolff has been everything that you demand from a leader. He has always had Lewis Hamilton take the limelight whenever the team tasted success and whenever the team has gone through a heartbreaking defeat or a tough period, he has come out to defend his team. Also, he has been a friend to Lewis Hamilton which has done wonders for the seven time world champion to go out there on the track and perform.

But, Toto Wolff has suffered mentally during this process which he vouchsafed in an emotional interview. The Mercedes Team Principal said, “I have been under severe stress for years at Mercedes.”
“However, I have found a way to find a balance in his life, as he has been seeing a psychiatrist for more than fifteen years.”
“Because of the successes, expectations were raised every season, which did not always make things easy for me.” As reported by gpblog.
Toto Wolff has been a huge factor in making Mercedes a household name in Formula 1 and a huge part of Lewis Hamilton’s success should be attributed to him. Therefore, we would want to see Toto Wolff in the sport for the longest time and wish him good health.
