Formula 1: Lando Norris Sets Sight on Max Verstappen in Sprint Qualifying at Monza
Max Verstappen and Lando Norris
It seems like after a tragic fall in form in the previous couple of races, Lando Norris has boucned back stromg in the qualifuing ofItalian Grand Prix as he just managed to fall behind Max Verstappen. Eventually Norris and his teammate Daniel Ricciardo settles for P4 and P5, but the young Brit hopes that he can beat the leader of the driver’s standings in the sprint qualifying on Saturday.
Knowing that there will be lower fuel loads at Monza, Norris really fancies his chance to beat Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. However, the qualifying on the first day at Monza was topped by Valtteri Bottas as he was four-tenths ahead of the Dutchman. And was followed by Lewis Hamilton in P2.
What was Opinionated by Lando Norris?
“I’m not saying that we will be fighting the Mercedes, but we have a chance to race the Red Bull,” said Lando Norris as quoted by PlanetF1. “We are ahead of [Sergio] Perez, and I’m very close to Max, so with lower fuel we have a bit more of a chance.”
He added,“But the Red Bull is still the quicker car. More drivable, more race-able when you have the high fuel, the tyre degradation and so on. I can be positive and look forward to tomorrow, I’ll still be going for it and trying to get past, but I have to pick my battles wisely.”
“I had him in Q1 and Q2, and there were a couple places where I could make improvements, which I did,” he concluded. “But on my final lap I made the biggest mistake and messed up the apex of the second chicane, so I lost one tenth. And that would’ve put me P3, so I’m not unhappy, I am still happy.”
