The power duo of Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff has decided not to attend this evening’s gala in Paris. This decision has come in the wake of Mercedes deciding not to appeal the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix decision any further. They were going to appeal further but have now decided to not go through with it.

Toto Wolff has told ESPN that they are not going to attend the gala given what has happened and has quoted “NO, both of us won’t be there because of my loyalty to Lewis and because of my own personal integrity.” It seems this is how the Mercedes duo have decided to show their resentment against what happened at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Who is going to receive the constructors trophy?

Toto Wolff has stated in clear terms that their team has done a lot of hard work this season and it would not be right if we don’t send a representative to receive the trophy. Mercedes team member James Allison is going to receive the constructor’s trophy on the team’s behalf.

The Mercedes boss has further added that winning 8 consecutive constructors’ championships is a huge achievement for the team and it is a moment that calls for celebration and needs to be celebrated. He further applauded the team back home in Brackley and indicated that the 8th constructors have been possible because of the relentless hard work and passion that the personnel at Mercedes have for their team.

Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff not happy with the decision

Ever since this has been made clear that Lewis is not going to attend the ceremony, it has become very clear that he is not happy with what Micheal Masi did in the race in Abu Dhabi. After the race in his post-race interview, he showed gratitude towards his team and congratulated max on his maiden world title. He did not blame anyone for the loss.

Lewis Hamilton is clearly hurt with what went down and probably has taken the incident to his heart. He was stripped of his opportunity to become the record 8-time world champion and this has clearly been a factor in Lewis deciding not to attend the gala. It is going to be interesting to see what James Allison says if he is asked about Lewis and Toto not showing up while receiving the award. The 2021 season has been cursed with controversy, the season is done and dusted but the controversies are just not letting anyone catch a breath.
