Lewis Hamilton has had a very slow and disappointing start to the 2024 Formula 1 season. The seven-time World Champion only achieved a P7 at the season opener in Bahrain and a P9 at Jeddah. With this being his final year with Mercedes, as the Briton is moving to Ferrari in 2025 the driver has laid out his dreams and goals for the 2024 season.
Lewis Hamilton wants to fight for wins and podiums this year. He thinks that the Brackley-based team has made improvements to the 2024 Challenger W15 already to achieve those goals. Moreover, Hamilton also believes that his team still has the winning mindset that helped them dominate the turbo-hybrid era, despite many F1 personalities claiming otherewise.
The dream and the goal is still if we can get wins this year or podiums this year, I think that could be really amazing. To finish second in the constructors’ [championship] last year, given the issues we had with the car, just shows what we can do with something that’s not even perfect. So I’m hoping that we can do that again this year.Lewis Hamilton via Racefans.net.
With Hamilton not being able to win a race in two years, only time will tell whether he will be able to achieve his dream of obtaining his last win with Mercedes this year. The Australian Grand Prix will definitely showcase where the German manufacturers will find themselves in the pecking order.
Lewis Hamilton’s gives his verdict on Mercedes catching Max Verstappen
The 2024 season has started in similar fashion for reining World Champion Max Verstappen and Red Bull. The Milton-Keynes-based team has finished 1-2 in both the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in dominating fashion.

Ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, seven-time World Champion was asked about his thoughts on catching up to his 2021 title rival. Hamilton noted that it is a long season but it’s going to be pretty difficult to catch them.
The fact that Max has 50 points and we only have eight points after two races, if you just think logically about it – you have to be conscious that it’s a very long season also so things can change – but it’s going to be very hard to catch those guys. Their car, they drop it on the track and it just works. For us, we are really, really grinding to pick up that performance and get it to where we need to be.Lewis Hamilton said.
The Briton seems to feel that the Red Bulls and Verstappen possess a massive advantage due to their car. Hamilton still seems to be motivated though as he spoke about how he still feels like his team has it in them to find the performance to catch Verstappen and the Red Bulls.
