“Lewis Hamilton had a better second half in 2021”: Sebastian Vettel

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel

If there is any driver on the paddock who could understand the pressure running in the veins of Max Verstappen before the start of the season finale in 2021, it was Sebastian Vettel, who himself locked horns. The two-world champions were involved in a serious battle in 2018, but more importantly this duo and their rivalry has been among of the history books.

Since Lewis Hamilton’s emergence in the sport, Vettel has been one of his most constant opponents until 2020. On the same note, Max Verstappen rightfully took the place of Vettel in order to challenge the 36-years-old Brit and this time around even got the better of him. However, after the end of the season when asked about his honest view, Vettel stated that he felt Hamilton had the better second half of the 2021 season.

Asked upon his views on the Max Verstappen vs Lewis Hamilton season finale, Vettel stated as per Blick“I had only seen that in the last round the Dutch fans jumped on. That’s when I knew: Max is in front. And Lewis didn’t stand a chance with his tyres. Well, both would have deserved the title. Too bad for Hamilton, because he had a strong second half of the season. Now I just congratulate both pilots.”

Talking about the most overtakes done in the 2021 season, he added, “Well, if you usually have to start in the back regions, you have a better chance of winning this overtaking title. I’d rather have more World Championship points (43; Editor’s note.) and especially in Budapest did not lose my second place at the green table. 0.3 liters of fuel are said to have been lost in the tank.”

Fernando Alonso

Having said that with Sebastian Vettel once again pairing with Lance Stroll, expectations will be high, but will the four-time world champion be able to deliver? Who knows, as time unravels all answers.
