For years Lewis Hamilton complained about how he wanted a stiffer challenge for the World Championship in the turbo hybrid era, and to everyone’s surprise 2021 has delivered his wish. With Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen being on Hamilton’s toes all the time, the seven-time World Champion seems to be all prepared for the second half of the 2021 season. 

With the Day 1 of Belgian Grand Prix all set to commence within a few hours, Lewis Hamilton suggests that he understands and knows his rival Dutchman better. Moreover, Hamilton went onto to say that he vaguely remembers what happened in the first half of the season and he is determined to perform ever better in the upcoming races.

‘Everything is very vague. I don’t remember everything from the first half of the season. It was difficult, very difficult for all of us. What I remember is just the pressure between sessions to get the setup right. Understanding which drivers you are racing with is an interesting process. Don’t want to say much more about that, but I think I know and understand the guys I race with very well now,” Hamilton told Formula1.com.

”The most important thing though is that I’m racing against myself. I’m always trying to get better, and improve how I perform. That’s mainly my goal,” said Hamilton. Lewis was once again in the simulator this weekend. Asked if that will be a new thing of his, he is clear. ”I hope not no. I won’t be in it next week”, the seven-time World Champion concluded.

With a que of races lined up in-front of Lewis, he will be well aware about the support for Verstappen and Red Bull. Will he be able to keep his calm and deliver? Remains to be seen.
