Toto Wolff along with Lewis Hamilton had to pay the ultimate price for the “human error” committed by the then race director, Michael Masi. Mercedes and Toto Wolff had a moment of so close but yet so far in the last race of the season as they literally went wheel to wheel with Red Bull and Max Verstappen. Mercedes had a commanding lead over Red Bull in Abu Dhabi before it was snatched away, courtesy of an abysmal decision by the then race director, Michael Masi.

What raised eyebrows was the fact that it seemed like Michael Masi reverberated the original message sent by Red Bull to him while he responded to Mercedes. A large portion of the F1 community claimed that it was unjust and should be overturned. Due to which, the FIA had to do a thorough investigation into the matter which led to the then race director to be ‘repositioned’.

In the wake of such events, the whole community had erupted and even went on to ask Max Verstappen to return the trophy to Lewis Hamilton which destroyed the sanctity of the win and also diminished the authenticity of the rules. Lewis Hamilton even went to a hiatus from social media and later on explained how much he was impacted by the loss and needed time to recover from the trauma of that defeat.

It seems like Toto Wolff hasn’t completely gotten over that defeat in Abu Dhabi as he attacks Michael Masi yet again for his time in F1 as race director. Mercedes’ team Principal said, “He was a liability for the sport because everybody kept talking about Abu Dhabi and the race director, and the race director should not be somebody that people talk about, but someone who does the job and makes sure the race is run according to the regulations.”

“You hear from the drivers and how the drivers’ briefings were conducted and some of the guys said it was almost disrespectful how he treated some of them. He was just immune to any feedback.”

“And even today he has not properly reflected that he did something wrong.” As reported by skysports.

Lewis Hamilton might have decided to get over debacle that happened in Abu Dhabi but Toto Wolff has certainly not, as he continues to target the then race director, Michael Masi, at every possible opportunity.
