“Max is the man of the future” Helmut Marko opines on Max Verstappen’s massive new contract

Helmut Marko the RedBull team adviser has recently given his thoughts on the huge deal that Max Verstappen has signed with the RedBull team.
It has been stated in GPblog that Max Verstappen is set to stay at RedBull at least until 2028 and is going to earn a salary that is going to be similar to what Lewis Hamilton is earning at Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton has been dominating Formula1 since the start of the turbo-hybrid era in 2014, but last season Lewis and Max were engaged in a title fight that lasted till the last race of the season where Max was ultimately able to come out on top and secure his maiden world title.
In the view of Helmut, this was reason enough for RedBull to tie the Dutchman down to a new deal as quickly as possible. He emphasized the fact that RedBull was aware that there was interest from other teams in Max, so the hierarchy at RedBull decided to act early and show faith in Max’s ability by offering him a bumper new deal.

Max Verstappen has become a top earner in Formula1 with his new deal as he is now at level pegging with Lewis in terms of season salary but Helmut Marko is not at all worried about it.
While talking about his deal Helmut said “I don’t know what Hamilton earns, but I think it’s clear that a world champion is given a different weighting.”

By offering Max a deal until 2028, they have clearly shown faith in him and to carry the team into the future as their Flagbearer. Helmut and RedBull are pretty pleased with the new deal as they have managed to fend off the outside interest in Max Verstappen and are adamant that Max is the one who is going to help the team in bringing more world titles into its stable.
With a new deal under his belt, Max would be raring to go in Bahrain and it is going to be interesting to see how the young dutchman is able to handle the pressure that comes with singing a bumper deal with a team like RedBull.
