Alex Albon made his Formula One début in 2019 with Red Bull’s sister team Toro Rosso alongside Daniil Kvyat. Later that season he was promoted to Red Bull Racing, partnering with Max Verstappen replacing Pierre Gasly. He shared his experiences with Max while at Red Bull in an interview for the Formula 1 Magazine.

He’s very honest, Max doesn’t do bullsh*t,said Albon. “He’s very direct. You could say that he is really Dutch!” The Dutchman has often been quoted as Over-confident by the media for his remarks “He is confident, but certainly not arrogant. He just has confidence in what he does,” the Thai racer continued.

But despite all the hype and prodigal status that Max gets, Albon states that he is a very normal human being. “He is actually a very ordinary boy, especially when you consider how well-known he is and what he has already achieved. Max is much more normal than many people would think,” said Albon.

The duo are also good friends outside the racetrack. Albon and Max have been spotted in each others live streams and play video games with each other. “We get along very well. He loves gaming, I also like to play games. So we sometimes play together,” he added.

After being named FIA Rookie of the Year in 2019, Alex had a poor spell of performances in the 2020 season. This ultimately cost him his Red Bull seat as he was replaced with Sergio Perez. After a year of Testing roles and taking part in the 2021 DTM campaign, Alex will be racing with British racing team Williams. The Thai racer will be replacing George Russel who will be racing with Mercedes.
