The McLaren F1 team has just a while ago informed everyone concerned that their Australian driver Daniel Riccardo is not going to take part in day one of Bahrain testing.

The papaya-colored F1 team via their TWITTER handle has just confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo is unwell and will not take part in Bahrain proceedings on Day 1 and Lando Norris is going to be behind the wheel of the MCL36 all day.

The McLarenF1 team was one of the few teams who were able to put up a strong showing during the first pre-season testing in Bahrain whereas most of the other teams were seen to be struggling with one issue or the other. The McLaren team was able to come out of the three-day Barcelona testing pretty much unscathed.

During the three grueling days of Barcelona testing, the McLaren F1 team was able to do a mammoth 365 laps, which put them third on the list in terms of mileage.

The duo of Daniel and Lando was able to put up strong performances during the three days of testing and on occasions were even seen on top of the timing charts ahead of teams like Ferrari, RedBull, and Mercedes. The F1 pundits were left impressed with what the team showed during the first pre-season testing.

Given the solid work that the team did during the first pre-season testing of the season, they would be looking to do more of the same during the three days of the all-important Bahrain testing.

The significance of the Bahrain testing is huge for all the teams as the first race of the 2022 F1 season is also slated to take place in Bahrain so it is going to be crucial for McLaren and all the other teams that they are able to do things in a smooth fashion and gather all the data that is going to help the teams in getting the advantage over its competitors in Bahrain on 18th of this month.

The 2022 season is shaping up nicely and if McLaren is to challenge for the title this season, then they would have to make the most of the Bahrain testing, as, after 12th march, teams are not going to get much time for trying out new things multiple times.
