“Red Bull were competitive without even trying,” Red Bull fire warning to rivals after impressive showing on Day 2 of Testing

Red Bull Formula1 team after the end of second day of Bahrain testing has claimed that they have been competitive “without even trying” during the testing sessions so far.
It has been stated in Planetf1 that while Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren have found themselves surrounded by headlines during testing so far, Red Bull on the other hand has had pretty low-key testing sessions so far as compared to their lofty standards.
The Bahrain testing session has been very straightforward so far for the Red Bull team during which Sergio Perez completed 138 laps on Thursday and Max Verstappen pumped in another 86 solid laps of Friday with the second-fastest time during the scheduled 8 hours of running.
The comeback kid, Kevin Magnussen however, was able to go the fastest of all the drivers, but that was during the extra time that the Haas F1 team was given on track because of freight delays.
At the end of the session, there was a feeling of positivity in the RedBull camp as they were able to go through their planned program in a smooth fashion.
Red Bull learning new things about their RB18 during every testing session
It was more of a stop-start day today, mostly by design,” explained Guillaume Rocquelin, Red Bull’s head of race engineering.
“We had a good continuous run yesterday, so today was more about exploring and testing different things.”
“We spent more time in the garage making changes to the car and also taking more risks. We learned a lot and gathered a lot of information today.”
“I’m quite happy with what we found out. We are progressing in different directions and it’s all very positive. We were reasonably competitive at the end without even trying.”
There were only nine cars in the afternoon session and still the fans were able to witness some close proximity duels as Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz decided to have a little fun on the track.
While talking about afterward Max said, “It was fun to have a little battle with Carlos.”
“I think he was on a long run with more fuel and I was on a shorter run and once I caught him he started using DRS. I think he wanted to race as well.”
“I think we did as good a job as we could today. It was very warm and there were quite a few red flags. It was quite a good day, all pretty standard and we put quite a good amount of laps on the car.”
It seems everything is going as planned at the RedBull team and it is just going to be a matter of time before we see the Red Bull team’s true potential for the upcoming season of F1. Everyone just has to wait a few more days before we go racing at the Bahrain International Circuit on 18th March.
