Sergio Perez: I Have Problems with the Car; After Worrying Practice Sessions in Austria

Max Verstappen was the fastest in both the practice sessions on the first day, but his teammate Sergio Perez had a less than improving first day. Having finished P13 and P9 in different practice session, the Mexican Driver made it clear about his problems pertaining in his Red Bull challenger. 

In the morning session the Mexican had to concede seven tenths to Max Verstappen, whilst in the afternoon that was six tenths. Perez appeared somewhat disappointed in front of the Sky Sports cameras after the session. “I am not comfortable in the car” the driver who’s currently third in the world championship revealed.

“Track conditions were good and the track was improving as we went through. It will be interesting to see what happens overnight but most importantly from our side we just have to find a bit of fine tuning. To have these issues where I am not comfortable with the car,” Perez continued his analysis of Friday’s sessions.

Still, Perez is hopeful that things will still work out this weekend. “We do have good pace. The long run pace seems to be promising if we can find a few tenths we should be in the fight.” 

Having said that the Styrian Grand Prix could be either be the end of the Red Bull domination in the 2021 Formula 1 calendar. Or it can be the beginning to embark and signify the Austrian Team’s dominating performance. With Verstappen glowing up in the same form in his home yard, there are couple of drivers who did end up finding the Red Bull Ring tricky.

But as the Qualifying session’s action unfolds tomorrow, it will be interesting to see which driver is able to take the pole and lead his way before heading into the final race on Sunday.
