Lewis Hamilton was so close, yet so far. The Briton has won seven world championships throughout the length of his career which ties him with the Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher. He was pipped by the current world champion Max Verstappen in the controversial last lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The former champion had the race under control but a mistake by the FIA left him in a hopeless situation.

But, it’ll be safe to say that Lewis Hamilton wasn’t at his sparkling best that we are used to seeing from the Mercurial Mercedes man. Max Verstappen was always a step ahead of the former champion and also showed more hunger to win his maiden title. He was also able to put Lewis Hamilton in an uncomfortable situation on more than one occasion with his aggressive driving style.

But we have always known to be a fighter who makes a comeback in his vintage style to silence the critics. But this time it has been a tad bit different. Lewis Hamilton even considered retiring from the sport after that heartbreaking defeat in Abu Dhabi but that love for the sport and that hunger to win the eighth title brought him back to Formula 1.

There have been speculations that Lewis Hamilton might be out there seeking revenge from Max Verstappen but Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert has completed denied those speculations.

Johnny Herbert said, “Some people seem to think that because of what happened last year, Lewis is going to be particularly motivated to come back for revenge.”

“That’s not Lewis’ way.”

“Lewis is motivated to do the best he can at any given track at any part of the season. He had that hunger in 2007 and he still has it now.” As reported by gpfans.

Lewis Hamilton is a student of the game and has never been driven by extreme emotions. He knows how to keep his head when everyone is losing theirs around him. He showed that after the race in Abu Dhabi when he went to congratulate Max Verstappen even after that heart-wrenching defeat. So, it’ll be safe to say that the only thing on his mind would be ‘winning‘ and not ‘revenge.’
