Toto Wolff the Mercedes team Principal has recently come out and shed some light on the developments of the W13 and has sounded very confident that there is still a lot of untapped potential in their W13 challenger.
Toto Wolff has also said that the team is ‘relishing‘ the challenge of extracting more performance from their car and are pretty stoked about it.
The Mercedes F1 team have been absolute monsters in the sport since 2014 and have year on year blown the competition away. The team has won the constructors championship in each of the last eight seasons and has missed out only once on the driver’s title.
During Bahrain testing, the Brackley-based team stole all the headlines as they came out with a design that was not expected by anyone on the grid. The narrow sidepods design got the attention of everyone present.

Toto Wolff while talking about the new season said, “The start of a new Formula One season is always exciting, and this year more than most. With new technical and sporting regulations, there is so much to learn and discover as this new season begins.”
“Barcelona was a productive first test of the W13, then we brought a big update to Bahrain for the pre-season test which resulted from a huge effort by the whole team.“
“We completed good mileage, had solid reliability, and learned a lot about our new car, but it was not a straightforward three days for us.“
“We tried plenty of set-up options and made good progress in understanding our limitations, and there’s still plenty of room for us to improve further.”
“There is a lot of potentials to unlock in the W13, and we know how much we relish the challenge of understanding the car and extracting the maximum from it, and this will be our focus for the coming days, weeks, and months.”
It seems the Mercedes F1 team is all geared up for the upcoming season and is going to do their absolute best in order to find their drivers some additional performance from the car. People are not considering Mercedes as the favorites yet, but knowing what they have done in the sport since 2014, it would be foolish to bet against the might of Mercedes.
