Lewis Hamilton missed out on the chance to secure a record 8th world title in 2021 as his dominant run in Turbo-hybrid era came to a halt after Red Bulls Max Verstappen came out victorious in the dramatic season finisher in Abu Dhabi. Max Verstappen won his maiden world title following a controversial unlapping decision under safety car from race director Michael Masi which allowed him to overtake race leader Lewis Hamilton in the last lap.
Team Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton felt devastated by the decision with a furious Mercedes boss Toto Wolff filing a protest against the decision which was turned down by the stewards. Lewis Hamilton who was emotionally broken following the Abu Dhabi drama went on a 56-day long silence where he kept himself away from the public eye and social media prompting speculations of his retirement.
Lewis Hamilton got back to the F1 paddock with confusion and distress looming around his him and his fellow superstars were quick to offer a consoling hug to the 7 times world champion who just witnessed one of the most disappointing chapters of his life played out intron of him.
Former world champion Sebastian Vettel and Co offered a Reassuring hug to Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton’s former rival Sebastian Vettel who won 4 world championship with Red Bull was the first to console a broken Lewis Hamilton as the German offered a worm hug to Hamilton and spoke to him in an effort to calm him down following the disappointment. Hass driver and son of Legend Michael Schumacher, who shares the record for the greatest number of titles with Hamilton, Mick Schumacher was the next in line to offer a hug. Mick Schumacher also had an important role to play in Nicholas Latifi’s crash which prompted the safety car drama, unintentionally though.
This was followed by the McLaren duo of Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris. Veteran Daniel Ricciardo offered a warm hug to Lewis Hamilton same as his teammate and Englishman Lando Norris. Lewis Hamilton’s father Anthony Hamilton played an important part in calming Lewis Hamilton down as he embraced his son for a long time making sure he is okay.
Lewis Hamilton recently announced that “he is back” through his social media handle and been spotted in multiple parts of USA where he is having his vacation along with his family. Lewis Hamilton is expected to join Mercedes for the 2022 preparation’s and will be driving along side George Russell who replaced his long-time teammate Valtteri Botas.
