“We are still within striking distance,” George Russell hopeful of Mercedes’ “strong” comeback during 2022

George Russell
George Russell the Mercedes Formula One driver has recently shared his opinion on the battle for the 2022 F1 championship and has indicated that his team is still in contention and is not out of it just yet.
Russell believes the current season is only two races down and it just won’t be right to count the reigning constructors out of the Championship fight just after the competition of two Grand Prix.
while talking about the whole predicament Russell said, “We’re definitely not out after two races. Even if we continue like this for five, six, seven, eight races, we’re still within striking distance. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t do that.”
George Russell is very optimistic about the silver-arrows chances this season and has indicated that even if they are not able to put their strongest foot forward in the coming races, they are not going to be out of the Championship fight. However, he has stressed that they have to remain in striking distance of the top two teams.

Mercedes after two races is one point ahead of Red Bull in the constructors and this is because of the DNF that Red Bull scored with both its cars in Bahrain.
Mercedes “lucked out” in Bahrain but everyone is aware of who has got the faster car among Red Bull and Mercedes.
George Russell and Mercedes need to get a handle on the porpoising issue

During the first two races of the 2022 F1 season Mercedes has been the team that is suffering the most from the “porpoising” issue and this has had a massive impact on the performance that the team is able to get out of the W13 so far in the season.
Toto Wolff the Mercedes team Principal has himself admitted that they need to get on top of the situation as quickly as possible because otherwise Mercedes could be stuck in “limbo.”

Mercedes need to get their act together in the coming races and provide their star drivers with a car that is worthy of challenging the Red Bull and Ferrari Formula One team.
The upcoming race is in Australia and it is going to be interesting to see if the silver arrows are able to challenge the top two teams or not.
