Having to fight for more points against his name in the upcoming season, the young Brit will drive alongside Lewis Hamilton and surely has the chance to rank among the top 5 drivers. However it comes to be known that Russell introduced himself in a unique fashion to Mercedes and Toto Wolff.
He sent Toto Wolff a PowerPoint presentation, outlining his CV and explaining why he wanted to join Mercedes’ junior programme.

“But he sent back after only 15 minutes that we should just make an appointment,” Russell said in an interview with Bild. His parents taught him to work hard for his dreams. “I still have that attitude. Signing for Mercedes was one of the greatest moments of my life, but it’s only the first step,” revealed the young Brit.

“I would be stupid to think that it is easy to drive for a team like Mercedes alongside Lewis Hamilton. Of course I’m happy, but I also know that it’s only really starting now. It’s going to be the biggest challenge I’ve ever had.”
