“I’m not going to name them,” Max Verstappen hesitates to reveal the circuits which should be scrapped off from the upcoming calendar

Max Verstappen has been one of the major catalyst for the sharp rise in the popularity of F1 in the last couple of years. The Dutchman was at the peak of his powers during the last season as he defeated the seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton. But this wasn’t like any other season.

This season went to the wire as the title was decided on the last lap of the season. Max Verstappen had put on show for the global audience. What this meant was that the sport which was going down because of lack of competitive seasons got a major lift. Another reason for the growing popularity of the sport has been the success of the Netflix series “Drive To Survive.”

Formula 1 was called a rich man’s sport. But that perception has successfully been altered by the introduction of this series which is immensely popular among the younger age group. This, in turn meant that more promoters wanted to get involved in the sport, which meant more circuits across the globe.

Like, most drivers, Max Verstappen also has his favorite circuits where he just loves driving. Recently the reigning world champion was asked about his favorite circuits. He said, “I think they should keep a bit of a mix between the new circuits and the old school circuits.”

“Of course I hope they keep Spa and – Zandvoort can’t be missed of course – Suzuka, also such a beautiful circuit. So if you keep those then that would be nicer than always going to new circuits and more street circuits.”

The response wasn’t that clear when asked about the circuits he doesn’t enjoy driving on. The Dutchman said, “There are a few that I find a little less, but I’m not going to name them. That’s not so neat.” As reported by gpblog.

Formula 1 has come a long way in the last few years and has been one of the most successful marketing projects in the sporting arena and Max Verstappen does definitely deserve some credit for that. Let’s just hope the organization can build on this solid foundation.
