Carlos Sainz picks this ‘driver’ as a potential World Champion

Carlos Sainz secured his first ever podium finish for Ferrari last week at the Monaco GP, as he finished P2, behind Max Verstappen. The Ferrari driver shared the podium with his former McLaren teammate, Lando Norris who finished P3.

Both, Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris are considered to be a part of the next generation of drivers. Cafrlos Sainz believes that with the right car, Lando Norris can certainly with the championship in the future.

Lando Norris is currently third in the championship, having secured two podium finishes. The young Briton has finished among the points in all five races so far.

“There is a whole group of drivers who are fighting at the same level and I would include Lando among them,” he said. “They are all potential World Champions, they just need the right car to take the title,” Sainz added.

Carlos Sainz believes that Lando Norris has the potential to take McLaren to the top of the championsip. Norris made his debut in 2019, and has finished P6 in both seasons so far.

Many other drivers too. The level in Formula 1 is so high that unfortunately it’s more about what the team can do and not what we can do. But I think Lando has the potential to win races and take McLaren to the top,” said Sainz.

The Spaniard also stated that going into the Azerbaijan GP in the coming week, Ferrari does not have the best chances in Baku. “Going into Baku, I think we are not going to be the best ones on that long straight but at the same time, if we can make the time back on the tight part then we should be okay,” he said.
