Charles Hamelin, a 6-time Olympic medalist in short-track speed skating has always been super vocal about the fact that he looks up to 7 times world champion Lewis Hamilton. The Briton has had a glorious career and still is pushing hard to maximize his wins. He’s served as an idol to many athletes all over the world. Notably, the 37 years old Mercedes driver has also gone out of his way to beat Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., and Usain Bolt to clinch the title of SportsPro’s most marketable athlete in the year 2014.

Hamelin is a huge fan of Formula One and continues to support his idol and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. The recently crowned 6-time Olympic medalist was seen mentioning how he paid tribute to his idol through the medium of the helmet that he wore during his course in the Winter Olympics 2022: I did a little tribute to one of my idols with my Olympic helmet!! Can’t wait to the beginning of the F1 season!!”. The Canadian short-track speed skater modeled his winning helmet after the one that Lewis Hamilton wore in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of 2020 where he clinched his 7th world championship title.

The Briton will be next seen in the pre-testing season at Barcelona which officially commences the 2022 Formula One season.

Canadian short track speed skater Charles Hamelin is a 6-time Olympic medalist who recently won the bronze in the Winter Olympics 2022 which concluded yesterday in Beijing.

Hamelin has ample accolades to his name to make him stand out as one of the best in his sport. The 37 year old Canadian has been active in the sport since 2002 when he made his debut in the junior world championship. Short track speed skating is a family thing for the Hamelin’s with both Charles and brother Francois making an exceptional mark in the sport as a whole. Their father Yves Hamelin is currently serving as the director of the national short track speed skating team.
