Alpine brought in new meaning, values and color to the paddock with the spirit of competition. The two drivers for the Alpine team are Fernando Alonso, former two-time World Champion and Esteban Ocon.
During the 2021 season, Alpine endured mixed results despite finishing fifth in the Constructors Championship and returning to the podium for the first time since 2013 accompanied by Esteban Ocon’s maiden win in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Esteban Ocon argued that if he and his teammate Fernando Alonso received a strong package for the next season, it would favor with the return of their strengths proving Alpine’s operational capabilities. At Qatar the team proved that they could take advantage of bad luck to achieve strong results.
“This is what we wanted to do. We knew we didn’t have the fastest car; we didn’t have the fastest package overall to be fighting there at the front, but as soon as there was an opportunity, we were there to be able to take them.”
“Qatar, Saudi, Budapest, almost Sochi for Fernando,” Ocon added, as quoted by GPFans.
The Enstone-based team last saw the success of the championship in 2006, after which they drove as Renault. Alonso has won his second consecutive title and Ocon is keen to bring the team back under leaders Mercedes and Red Bull.
