“I’m feeling more of a racer now,” says Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso had a tremendous week at British GP, as he finished P7 in the main race on Sunday. The Spaniard also had delivered a good performance during the sprint race, as he finished P7. Alonso started the sprint race from P11, and made up quick places to start the race from the fourth row.
Fernando Alonso has 26 points from his 10 races in the championship this season. Alonso believes that he had a strong weekend at British GP, as it was a hectic week, which involved a hectic schedule.
“Very busy, we never have an easy race – we’re always in different battles at different types of race. I think [it was] a strong weekend,” says Alonso.
“We’ve been in the points for the last four or five races, our best result was in Baku, P6, but it was a strange race. So today, P7, was probably our strongest weekend on race pace – [I’m] happy for that,” he added.
Fernando Alonso believes he has more confidence in his car
Fernando Alonso has missed out on scoring points in only three out of the 10 races so far. He was initially lagging behind his teammate, Esteban Ocon at Alpine, but recently, he has been improving his performance.
Fernando Alonso stated that during the initial races of the season, he was driving too consciously, and being too aware of his mistakes. However, he is more confident at the moment, and feels like a complete driver.
“Yeah, I think I’m feeling better and I’m feeling more of a racer now. The first couple of weekends, Bahrain, Imola, it was like everything was starting from zero,” said Alonso.
“[I was] very conscious of many things and trying not to make mistakes for the team. It’s different now, I’ve got more confidence in the car so I can use my instinct a little bit more now,” he added.
