I’m very happy to say we have a clear plan in place now: Andreas Siedl drops positive McLaren update

The Papaya team of the paddock was one of the teams turning heads starting the 2022 season. The McLaren team kicked things off with showing promising signs at the pre-season test at Barcelona. The team was expected to be fighting at the top of the grid come the new rules and regulation. However, a few hiccups in the form of brake overheating and lack of downforce is restricting the McLaren team to unlock its true potential.

The first three races of the season, the McLaren team has seen quite a number of highs and lows already. The race in the middle-eastern countries did not play in the hands of the team, with the team only scoring 6 points in two weekends. However, come Melbourne, the McLaren team had quite a turn around with the team taking 18 points from the weekend. The homeboy hero, Daniel Ricciardo finished P6 and his British team-mate, Lando Norris taking P5 at the end of the race. The McLaren team finally showing some signs of promise and now it is to be seen if they can carry this performance to the next weekend.

The German, Andreas Seidl in his fourth year with the team said there is a lot of work to do with a “one-second gap to the top cars” on a flying lap. He added “I’m very happy to say we have a clear plan in place now of what we need to do with the car in terms of making steps in terms of performance”.

The Mclaren boss when asked about the time it would take for these upgrades to be seen on the car said “In terms of when this is happening exactly, I don’t want to go too much into detail. There are different parameters you have to manage when you do that, there’s the cost cap which you need to consider, there is the limited wind tunnel time also that you have nowadays, which you need to consider. That’s why you need to package it a bit as well as what you are doing.”

The team finishing fourth in the constructors last year and tasting success at Monza definitely intends to reach that peak performance. The Mclaren team have a lot on their plate with two competent drivers who are more hungry than ever to go racing against the top teams. The team has seen quite a turnaround in recent years with the appointment of CEO Zak Brown who in consequence put Andreas Seidl in charge of the team. The Mclaren team has shown signs of being a top team in recent years and if they can accelerate in this race for development, they might just find themselves challenging for the win every weekend.
