Max Verstappen is all set for the epic finale in Abu Dhabi this weekend. The Dutchman believes that it is vital for him to perform well in qualifying, which could play a crucial role in deciding the fate of the championship.

With both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen being level on points for the final race of the season, it is a situation of winner takes it all in Abu Dhabi. Hamilton won the recently concluded Saudi Arabian GP with the fastest lap to move to 369.5, whereas, Verstappen came in second.

Max Verstappen won the Abu Dhabi GP pretty comfortably last year, but believes that the changes made to the Yas Marina circuit could lead to a different result. First of all I’m excited to be back in Abu Dhabi!,” said Verstappen in Red Bull’s preview of the finale, as quoted by RacingNews365.

Last year is not always a good reference in terms of result as there were multiple factors that contributed to it. We’ve been lacking a bit of pace for the past few races but hopefully that won’t be the case this weekend,” he added.

Max Verstappen stated that the Yas Marina circuit is much faster after the new changes, and he is intrigued to find out as to how it will affect the set-up of the car.

The Yas Marina Circuit has had a few changes and the track is much faster now. It’s going to be interesting to see how it will affect the set-up of the car. It’s very important to have a good qualifying in Abu Dhabi so hopefully we can make that happen,” Verstappen added.

Max Verstappen also said that he was proud of his team’s efforts, as they have been much more competitive as compared to previous years. The Dutchman believes that Red Bull have come a long way, and they would love to finish the season on a high.

We’ve had a lot of wins and good moments this year, and we’ve been a lot more competitive in general, compared to the years before. So as a team, we can be very pleased and proud of what we have achieved this season. We are level on points and I know that we as a team are going to give it all to win this championship,” he continued.

This is going to be an exciting race and we want to finish the season in the best way possible,” Verstappen added.
