Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton not interested in talks ahead of blockbuster finale in Abu Dhabi

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are level-pegging in terms of the championship, as both drivers have 369.5 points each before the final race of the season. Lewis Hamilton’s action packed win in Jeddah has set up only the fourth title decider in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
Speaking in the pre match conference, Max Verstappen believes that Lewis Hamilton and himself do not have to engage in any kind of talks. The Dutchman is focused on the task that lies ahead, to win the Abu Dhabi GP.
Max Verstappen stated that the two championship rivals have put on an epic show for their fans, and he hopes to do the same in Abu Dhabi this weekend, and finish the season on a high.
“I don’t think we need to sit down,” Verstappen told media as quoted by RacingNews365.
“I think we are both here to win. I will do everything to win and win the championship, ultimately – whatever is necessary in terms of points. I think we’ve raced really well together already the whole year and I think we put on a great show for everyone at the end of the day. Hopefully we can do that again here,” he added.
Lewis Hamilton, who has sitting alongside Verstappen for the conference, agreed with the Dutchman, saying that talks are not necessary at the moment.
“I don’t think so. I think, as Max mentioned, we‘ve had lots of races. There’s been lots of good, and there’s been, obviously, incidents. But I’d like to think, hopefully, we learn from all these things and then move forward,” said Hamilton.
I just don’t give it any energy: Lewis Hamilton on external factors
Max Verstappen asserted that he wants to be in a positive frame of mind for the Abu Dhabi GP. He wants a clean race, and not controversial decisions affecting the outcome.
“I think we just have to focus on the positive for this weekend. We just want action on track. I think from both sides, we want to win, clearly. It should be about that, not about controversial decisions,” said Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton echoed with his rival, and believes that he pays no heed to external factors. Moreover, he stated that his car is in a great shape, and the momentum is with Mercedes going into the finale.
“I just don’t give it any energy. I’m here for a great race. We’re arriving on a positive as a team, we’ve got the car in a great place,” said Lewis.
“Red Bull won here last year, so without doubt, they’re going to be strong this weekend. But I think we’ve chased and caught up a lot, and I think you can come here and be strong this weekend,” he added.
