“We need to keep our feet on the ground,” Sergio Perez’s advice to Red Bull

Mercedes have been the most dominant team in Formula One in the past decade. The Silver Arrows have managed to win seven consecutive constructors championships, and are favorites to claim the title this year as well. However, Red Bull have stepped up their game this season, and are currently leading the championship by just one point.
Max Verstappen leads the drivers championship by four points after his Monaco GP win last week. His teammate, Sergio Perez believes that Red Bull must not get carried away, and stated that there is a long way to go in the season.
“Of course we are happy that we are now ahead in both World Championship standings. But let’s keep our feet on the ground,” Perez told speedweek.com.
“We’ve only done five races out of a planned 23. In the end, Max was right when he said in Monte Carlo – it’s not important who’s in front after five races, it’s important who’s in front after the Abu Dhabi finale. We have to continue to be as focused as we have been,” he added.
I can’t wait to race in Baku: Sergio Perez
Sergio Perez is yet to claim a podium finish this season, but has managed to finish in the top five on four occasions so far. At Monaco GP, Perez came close to a P3 finish as almost passed Lando Norris towards the end stage of the race. However, he did make up to five places in the main race, as he started from P9 in the fifth row.
The Mexican stated that Monaco GP was mentally challenging, but he cannot wait to race again at Azerbaijan GP this week. “The race was mentally very exhausting, but our 1st and 4th places are a morale boost for the upcoming races,” he added.
“I can’t wait to race in Baku. We have shown in various races what a high level we can maintain. But we need to step it up in qualifying,” Perez continued.
