Gilbert Arenas bizarrely claims Lakers and Warriors will go to the playoffs because Kings and Pelicans have no fanbase

Gilbert Arenas claims that Warriors and Lakers will make the playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors have had a shaky season so far as they are currently in the 9th and 10th spots in the Western Conference. The teams now have to compete in the play-in tournament to qualify for the 2024 playoffs.

Despite both teams’ inconsistent season NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas is certain about them qualifying for the postseason. According to the former athlete, the other teams in the play-in tournament like the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans will not have a chance in playoffs based on their fandoms.

Golden State and Lakers about to be in the playoffs. Them other two teams that got no fanbase, get on out of here, we don't wanna see ya.
Gilbert Arenas said on Gil’s Arena Show

It is undeniable that the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers have huge fanbases because of their star players, but it is quite bizarre to claim that to be the reason behind the teams’ future victory. The Pelicans and the Kings both have better winning percentages than the Dubs and Lakers.

Another fault in Arenas’ claim is that the Kings are known to have one of the best and most loyal fanbases in the NBA currently. On the other hand, the Pelicans are already proving Arenas’ claim wrong as they are now out of the play-in tournament by moving to the 6th seed after defeating the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.

Warriors and Lakers are likely to face off in the play-in tournament

The Warriors and Lakers played their last regular season game on Tuesday. Both teams gave their everything, but the Lakers were unable to stop the Warriors’ amazing shooting night. The superstars of the teams were incredible as LeBron James scored a 33-point double-double in the loss while Stephen Curry was close to a triple-double.

However, this might not be the last time NBA fans will witness a matchup between the greats this season. The last two teams in the play-in bracket will battle to secure a spot in the playoffs. The Warriors and Lakers are likely to stay in their spots, which will lead them to compete against each other as they are the 9th and 10th seeds in the conference.

Despite their inconsistency during this season, the Warriors and Lakers have certainly performed during crucial times. Considering both teams will be fully healthy in the coming days, the matchup will undoubtedly be playoff-worthy.
