English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have acquired the services of Jose Sa as the Portuguese goalkeeper signs a five-year deal with the club.

Jose Sa has represented Marítimo and FC Porto’s senior side in the past. He has played 16 and 15 games, respectively, for both clubs. The Portuguese goalie has also played for the B-side of both teams during the early stages of his career.

He made 21 appearances for Olympiacos during his first stint with them, which he joined on loan from FC Porto. He then made a permanent move to the Greek club in 2019 and served them until 2021. With 62 appearances to his name, he was the club’s key man between the sticks.

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars said: “Jose is somebody who is very much coming into his peak years as a goalkeeper and has always been high up on our target list.

“He’s aggressive when coming for crosses, he commands his penalty area, has excellent distribution and he’s a very pro-active goalkeeper, and will be an important part in how we want to play under Bruno.”

Jose Sa was a part of the Portugal squad in the recently concluded Euro 2020. The 28-year-old goalkeeper has 15 clean sheets last season and was won the Greek Super League goalkeeper of the year 2020 award.

He is in for another new experience as he will play in the English Premier League as he has signed a long-term contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Portuguese player will look to make the best use of the given opportunities and make his national team debut soon.
