Rory McIlroy has ended a 18 month drought for a US PGA tour win by clinching his first Major win in the 103rd PGA Championship since 2014 last week. Thirty years after the Ryder Cup delivered a “War on the Shore” at Kiawah Island, Mcilroy, the professional golfer from Northern Island was all set to showcase more fireworks of US versus Europe as he went on to face Jordan Spieth of Texas at the 103rd PGA Championship.

Hopefully history repeats itself,” Rory said as quoted by The Times of India. “But I’m just happy that I can hit the golf shots I need to under pressure. You just need to get yourself in the position to put yourself under pressure to hit the shots that really matter.

The hard work and focused training with his new coach Pete Cowen, has presently yielded Mcllroy with first major win after 2014 in “He’s coming off a win,” said former World no.1 and 2015 PGA winner Jason Day of Australia. “He’s very confident right now, so going to be very dangerous.”

After the win the 32 year old professional golfer from Northern Ireland was happy to return back to his form as the last 18 months has been grief stricken with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic and games played without fans.

The victory is very important going into Kiawah,” he said. “I played really well there last time. I’ll go up there and try to do my homework and refamiliarize myself with the layout a little bit. It’s certainly great timing. This is obviously a huge confidence boost going in there knowing that my game is closer than it has been.”

With respect to standard of game shown by Rory, he continued to say the changes he had made to his approach towards the game to upgrade himself.

“I’ve watched a couple of videos over the last few weeks, just sort of trying to refamiliarize myself with the course a little bit,” Mcllroy said. “I chipped and putted so well that week. That’s the one thing i remember. I got it up and down a lot and my chipping and putting was really good.”

” I was probably a little more one dimensional, but it was very consistent move. I hit this big swooping draw all the time, but it was consistent,” Mcllroy signed off.
