“Kicking doors down” – Adam Scott was left PUZZLED for his clubs, as Cameron Smith put on a disappointing show against his usual self
Adam Scott
Adam Scott found himself in a tricky situation early in the first round of the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland. However, the drama was nothing about his gameplay but rather a panic about his golf clubs which for some reason he wasn’t able to find. Adam quickly shook off this distraction and went on to have a great start.
The clubs were shortly discovered in his manager’s room. The Australian had reunited with his caddie Steve Williams who came out of retirement. However, the event with the golf clubs certainly ruined a bit of the reunion, or so to say.
Focusing on the game, things went quite well for the former world no. 1 he shot a 66 and finished the day in a tie with the group for the fourth position at five under. The leaders at end of day one were also tied with them being – Min Woo Lee, Jason Scrivener, and John Lyras.
The tee time was rather quite early at 6 am, but the fans as usual made no complaints about it and turned up in huge numbers. “It was panic stations… Steve was kicking doors down” – he stated humorously. Adam Scott started his round at the 10th hole and didn’t look back from there.
Fans were more focused on Cameron Smith rather than Adam Scott
Adam Scott’s playing partner Cameron Smith was the center of attraction for whom the fans were eagerly waiting. The British Open Champion is playing back in his home after a long time, but Smith for some reason didn’t start that great, much to the crowd’s surprise.
Cameron made up for his slow start as he holed three birdies in his last four shots, thus carding a 68. He is three shots behind the table toppers. Smith was not happy with how his initial shots went and said – “I mean, for sure I’m here to try and play my best golf but sometimes you play your best golf and finish 20th.”
Smith was seemingly tired with his mind acting a bit weird for a player of his caliber. On the other hand, Lee enjoyed a stellar day with his throbbing performance on the course. He shot a 65, racking up seven birdies. Stay tuned for day 2 as lots of action with twists and turns still left at the Australian PGA Championship.
