Weeks after adding the championship at St. Andrews to his cap, Cameron Smith, the 29-year-old Aussie player joined the Saudi-PIF-backed circuit. It’s also not hidden, that he has displayed tremendous talent and sportsmanship on the LIV Golf Circuit. Long before all of this, Cameron had to face PGA Tour’s strong defense fort held by Rory Mcllroy trying to keep him on their side.

Rory definitely seems to have tried hard, but Cameron Smith swayed to the new golf series. Both Smith and Mcllroy engaged in a showdown to claim the Claret Jug, with Smith’s win and Mcllroy making note that he presents him with the premise to stay loyal to PGA Tour.

When world no. 1 speaks, everyone hears and that is exactly what Cameron presents about Mcllroy. He said, “I’ve always had respect for Rory and I’ve liked what he says on the golf course.” He loved the fact that Mcllroy congratulated him and wanted to remain in the conversation.

“I wouldn’t say he tried to directly talk me out of it, but he definitely wanted me to stay.” Smith mentioned detailing the conversation. It isn’t sure yet if the last-ditch effort was prior to Smith’s huge $140 million contract with LIV Golf. “I was definitely leaning one way, but it wasn’t signed on paper” – Smith said.

“There was still so much stuff to do, and so much to think about.” He also mentioned that the decision was indeed a tough one, spending sleepless nights contemplating if he did the right thing. However, with $4 million dollars in the bank account and the amazing show that Cameron Smith has managed to put up, it won’t be completely wrong to say that his decision turned out to be for the best.
