Scott expressed his commitment to the position and his vision for accountability in the game of golf. He stated,

“We have the ability to put the people in [charge at the Tour] who should be able to do the job. I think it’s getting to the point in our game where it’s getting maybe easy to see that there needs to be some accountability for all of this stuff all of a sudden across the game of golf. I think over my career there has probably been less of that because there hasn’t been a consequence for error, is the feeling as a player looking at the ecosystem of the game.”

Joining Scott on the policy board next year will be Peter Malnati, Rory McIlroy, and Webb Simpson. The current player directors will appoint a fifth player to replace Patrick Cantlay on the board.

The timing of Scott’s election as chairman is significant, as the PGA Tour is currently striving to improve its governance and boost transparency in the sport. The Tour has been working on several initiatives, such as its strategic plan to improve the Tour’s operations and performance.

Scott’s expertise and leadership will be priceless in aiding the Tour in resolving these difficulties and enhancing its governance. His dedication to accountability in golf will ensure that the Tour operates in a just and transparent manner and that players have a say in shaping the future of the sport.
