The 33-year-old golfer was one of the big names who joined the LIV Golf circuit by leaving the PGA Tour. When he joined, it was reported that he received a huge sum of $130 million. The five-time major champion has now admitted that money in fact played a part in his decision.

The Saudi-backed tour has been known for its spending. The league backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia has been heavily criticized for the amount of money they have used.

"Look, I'll be honest with you - I signed for the dough. I'm 100% behind that. I don't know if tomorrow I'll get in a car accident and never play golf again but my family is taken care of".
