Greg Norman (Chief Executive) has decided to reach Washington with a plan up his sleeve to lobby in Congress in favor of the LIV Golf Series. Greg has taken the non-traditional million-dollar Saudi-backed golf series seriously and seems determined to foster as much support as possible for their success. Sports washing, is what they have been alleged to do numerous times, has now become a thing of the past, as Greg reveals his ingenious scheme outside the golf course.

LIV concluded its first successful year. Greg Norman is planning to overhaul the series in 2023 with an array of changes. PGA Tour vs LIV is not new to headlines. PGA Tour has indeed shown some stubbornness by banning the players completely who defected to the more lucrative and incentivized golf circuit of 2022.  The aspirations associated with the series are high, but so is the well-chalked-out plan as of now.

The netizens and the golf community have obviously poured mixed reactions with most of them brutally trolling LIV Golf and Greg Norman for their plan. There is no doubt that the Saudi Arabian association has made the series pay far more than expected in terms of bad reputation and negative press attraction. People have begun with ruthless blame games, calling out Greg Norman for getting paid with truckloads of dollars to advocate for LIV Golf and its players.

“LIV Golf is coming to the Hill this week to meet with lawmakers from both parties,” a LIV spokesperson about their schemes. They are resolved to present their case against PGA Tour’s interference and opposition. The spokesperson also added, “Given the PGA Tour’s attempts to stifle our progress in reimagining the game, we think it’s imperative to educate members on LIV’s business model and counter the Tour’s anti-competitive efforts.”

Last month’s reports published that Hobart Hallaway & Quayle Ventures have been hired to present LIV’s case in front of Congress alongside Greg Norman to establish their intent of going forward. Washington’s association with the LIV is a profound one as Ari Fleischer- the former press secretary for President George W. Bush has been a part of LIV’s public relations team.

PGA Tour is already in hot waters as they are being actively investigated by the U.S. Justice Department for antitrust violations as their extended ban for the LIV pro golfers. LIV series has also become a part of the lawsuits filed by the golfers against the PGA Tour’s hurtful roadmap, which might become an issue with respect to the golfer’s reputation and career ahead. It is only to sit back and watch as the tiff between PGA Tour and LIV Golf unfolds and the changes it entails for both the golfing games.
