In the last week, two major signings took place in the golf and MLB world. While baseball fans were left amazed to hear about the deal with Shohei Ohtani, golfing fans were left equally stunned to hear about the deal with Jon Rahm. Greg Norman has now opened up about this switch of Rahm.

The Spanish international’s move to LIV Golf on a massive $600 million sent shockwaves across the golfing community. The two-time major winner’s decision came after he had previously called out the league and claimed he never liked their format. Norman has only praised the efforts of the current Masters champion and claimed he was a “great addition” to them.

Since its inception in 2021, LIV Golf has been berated on multiple occasions by several golfers, fans, and experts. Despite this, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) backed tour has continued to expand its structure. Norman only believes that the word is spreading around about their efforts and people are starting to love their format and structure.

When the golf merger was announced in June this year, several questions were being raised on what would happen to the future of LIV Golf and Greg Norman. The future of both entities was reported to be in danger. Fast forward to December and the LIV Golf now seems to have the upper hand with the addition of Jon Rahm. According to Norman, several golfers have expressed their desire to join Rahm on his team.

Recently there had been reports that Tony Finau was exploring the option to join Rahm and switch to LIV Golf. However, he would later confirm his loyalty to the PGA Tour amid these rumors. While Finau might not be joining him, others are waiting to get that chance as per Norman. He claimed that golfers are fighting to earn maybe two to three spots on his team.

I'll be honest with you, since Jon signed, I know he's been inundated by players saying, 'I want to play on your team, Jon. How do I get on that?' I can tell you... between eight and 12 guys for about two or three spots and maybe two spots.

While the Aussie was happy to see the response his league has been getting, Fred Couples recently blasted them again. The 15-time PGA Tour claimed that he wants players to join them for free instead of lucrative contracts and then compared the two golfing tours.

Rahm’s addition nonetheless gives them a significant edge over the traditional PGA Tour now. With him joining the league, at least one or two big names are likely to follow him. Who will join his team though is what fans are eager to see now.
