“100 percent honest answer” – Henrik Stenson to go the distance with the lie-detector test
Henrik Stenson
Henrik Stenson has once again got caught in between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf battle which has been a serious game of tug and war all summer. Stenson signed the contract with LIV Golf back in July. As usual, he too was suspended by the PGA Tour due to his allegiance to LIV Golf and that would mean he certainly won’t be the skipper for the European Ryder Cup.
One theory, very peculiar in particular, is about the series of the timeline involving all this chaos. The theory suggests that amidst all this commotion, Stenson deliberately went for the Ryder Cup captaincy in order to gain leverage and force LIV Golf into a way better contract.
However, Henrik has denied this theory altogether and is also willing to go the extra mile to prove his innocence. The British Open Champion in 2016 was all set to lead the team in European Ryder Cup had he not switched sides and joined the more lucrative LIV Golf Circuit.

Henrik Stenson surely has a curious way of giving assurances
“I can give you a 100 percent honest answer that it was never the case. I would be willing to take a lie-detector test on that” – said Stenson. Well, that’s probably never going to happen, but it sure gives a sense of what exactly happened. Back in March when LIV Golf was yet to debut with its inaugural event, Henrik Stenson gave his assurance that he would not be joining the controversial LIV Golf.
Back then Stenson said – “Yeah, there’s been a lot of speculation back and forth, and as I said, I am fully committed to the captaincy and to Ryder Cup Europe and the job at hand. So we’re going to keep busy with that, and I’m going to do everything in my power to deliver a winning team in Rome.”
After a couple of months of making this statement, Stenson went back on his words and joined the Saudi-PIF-backed cash-rich league in a reported $50 million deal. He was then stripped of his captaincy for the Ryder Cup and was replaced by Luke Donald. Henrik went on to make his debut in LIV Golf and ultimately won it too at the Trump Bedminster Course adding another $4 million to his pockets.
