“I’m not going to hit it”: Justin Thomas goes on rant after playing awkward drain shot at 2022 US Golf Open

With the last round of the 2022 US Golf Open soon getting underway, leaders Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick are all set to try and get the title. As the LIV Golf players and the PGA Players come together to play on one course, there has been tension all around. However, the third round was not without its share of drama, especially for a frustrated Justin Thomas.
The 2 time Major champion was perhaps not expecting his day to go that bad- but his first sign seemed to have come when the announcer mispronounced his name as ‘Justin Thompson’. However, things were going well for the 29-year-old as he finished his first three holes all under par. The problem however came at the fourth hole, when his ball landed at the cusp of a drain in the center of the fairway.
Justin Thomas faces disappointing drain shot at 2022 Golf US Open

Not going for a drop ball, Thomas decided to play the ball as it is, with his erratic shot falling well short of the green. Looking at the drain in absolute hate, the disappointment was evident on Thomas’ face. “I felt like I very easily could have told her that I was going to [hit the drain] and gotten a free drop. It’s very clear that my stance was altered and sitting bad because of that drain,” he said.
“That’s what pisses me off because so many other people would lie about being able to hit that, but it’s just like, ‘I’m not gonna hit it’,” said Thomas according to cnn.com. “I’m just trying to be a good f***ing person. F***ing b******t.” Thomas went on to finish the hole with a bogey. That leaves him a two-over 72 that leaves him three-over par heading into the final round.
