LIV Golf Series has had its critics since Day 1 of its inception. The Saudi – PIF backed invitational golf events have widely been gaining trolls and insults. LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman has been battling on all fronts, defending the competition and fighting for its co-existence along the PGA Tour.

Some top-tier golfers such as Phil Mickelson, and Dustin Johnson switched sides to join LIV Golf have garnered loads of hate related to human rights violations in Saudi Arabia. The more conventional PGA Tour has banned players who are associated with LIV Golf to play in the competitions sanctioned by PGA.

There have been talks in the US concerning LIV that it is sponsored by ‘blood money’. “This is Saudi blood money, We know all we need to know about the royal family and what they have done. It’s not just Jamal Khashoggi, it’s not just the ongoing oppression of women and gays, they’re directly or indirectly tied – according to US and British intelligence – to the 9/11 event.”

The PGA Tour has been roped in too in all this controversy regarding LIV. They have been put up to banter regarding theri double standards. “Look, if they want to look at it from prism, then why does the PGA Tour have 23 sponsors within the PGA Tour doing 40-plus billion dollars worth of business with Saudi Arabia? Why is it OK for the sponsors? Why is it OK … that there’s a Saudi sponsor, Aramco, the largest sponsor of women’s golf in the world?”

The PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan has been quite vocal about how the possibility of a truce between LIV and the PGA is not possible at all. Rory Mcllroy, one of the biggest names in golf at the moment too has been roped in. he recently changed his stance for LIV Golf from dismissive to a bit accommodative.

Phil Mickelson is of the opinion that LIV has much to offer to the game of golf. Starting from London in its initial stage, the competition moves on to Portland and Bedminster in the US. The Bedminster course is not so surprisingly owned by ex-President Donald Trump.
